In early 1998, a rainy Southern California day forced young Steven Asher to stay inside instead of going out to practice his skateboarding tricks. So what did Steven do? He brought his "skateboarding" inside. With scissors, cardboard and his 12-year old imagination, Steven created his first miniature skateboard replicas. He used the 3-inch boards to simulate real skateboard tricks with his fingers. And, just like real skateboards, he drew graphics on the bottoms of his creations. His dad, Peter Asher, a toy industry veteran, saw his son's ingenious work and recognized that there might be a market for these colorful mini-boards. And so, X Concept's® line of Tech Deck® was born. From Thanksgiving of that year, when first introduced in limited distribution, until now, more than 80 million of the Tech Deck® mini-replica skateboards have been sold. Now X Concepts® develops, manufactures, markets and distributes its own toy products around the world. X Concepts® has now launched action sports toys in every almost extreme sport imaginable with the same attention to detail. The list includes: skateboards, surfboards, snowboards, MX motorcycles, go-karts, quads, wakeboards, dirt boards, and street luge. In 2001 it was the year of the dude, Tech Deck Dude® that is. This original character has been a feature on over 45,000,000 assorted X Concepts® products in the last 3 years. The "Tech Dude®" has taken a life of his own by being the star of his own Nintendo Game Boy game, clothes (t-shirts, hats), and of course the extremely popular figurines.
		In Spring 2004 the Dudes will again star in their own video game called "Bare Knuckle Grind" and this time it's on the Play Station 2! This multi-level game challenges players to perform high-flying no holds barred skateboard tricks, unlocking secret characters, and battling fearsome Dude enemies. Players can unlock and play up to twenty-four of the most popular Dudes that include Billy, Sumo San, Andie, and Lenny and battle the wicked "Creatures" in boss rounds.
